Once again our Saturday mornings were filled with football. :)
This season was a bit hard for us though ~the league the boys play in changed the age brackets so the boys couldn't play on the same team...and Andrew had to move up to the next level sooner than we expected.
We are/were blessed that the coach the boys have had (and we really like) the last several seasons also has boys at the 2 different levels so both boys were still able to play for our favorite coach. It also meant both teams practiced together during the week (so just 1 practice to manage for them) AND since the coach coaches both teams ~the league also scheduled their games so that they never overlapped..which was super nice...just meant 5-6 hours at the football field Saturday mornings.
Biruk REALLY came into his own this season. He is really starting to understand the game and he is actually REALLY getting good at it. He had a great season ~scoring several touchdowns!

This season was a learning season for Andrew. We knew it would be. The team he had to move up to had been playing together for 8-10 seasons...since they were pre-K. They were VERY skilled football players! The boys were all really nice to Andrew ~but they knew each other better so Andrew didn't get to carry the ball much. Even though Andrew had a rough season in that sense, we are SO proud of Andrew. Every single game he went out there and gave it his all. He knew he wasn't going to get the hand-off or be considered for the pass...but every single play he went out there and played as if he was.
Here are some pics from the season.

loving Biruk's mohawk!!!
Andrew trying to chase down his opponent ~he got the flag just moments later!
this photo cracks me up -I have no idea what is going on...Biruk looks lke he's on the line of scrimmage getting ready to take off for a pass, his teammates look like they just hiked the ball and are handing it off...and then the kid in the gray is just wandering around in the backfield!
Biruk running for 1 of his touchdowns!
go Andrew!

Give me a boy anyday that gives it his all and does his very best... worth so much more than 8 touchdowns. Speaks to the character of he and his parents, for sure! xo
