San Diego ~ July 2012

Between Elizabeth's 2 surgeries and John's surgery, trying to find a a time (and money!) to go on a vacation was tough.

At the end of July, we headed out to San Diego for a few days.  My extended family lives in San Diego and John's mom and 3 sisters live in the LA area so it was a perfect way to see both of our families.

While in San Diego, we spent some time down at Bal*boa Park and did a few of the museums and walked around the area.

The Museum of Natural History had a horse exhibit..right up the girls' alley!

cooling off in the water fountain :)

besides the Natural History Museum, we did the Science Museum as well.

these 2 men are "zulu warriors".
they were very sweet with the kids and let us take a pic with them

my grandma -the kids "GG"...she graciously lets us invade her house every summer. :)

last summer we toured the USS Midway (HIGHLY recommend it if you can do it!!)...we had bought a year's "family pass" and it was expiring in just a few days..so we headed back to the Midway for another quick tour.

the deck of the Midway is covered with aircraft.

SO interesting!!

for lunch, John's mom and step dad drove down to meet us at a restaurant close to the Midway.

you can't go to Southern California in the summer and NOT go to the beach.

I'm blessed that one of my cousins works on Coronado Island..so she gave us some good tips on when and where to go.

We couldn't have been happier with her suggestions!
We got great parking (just a few steps from the beach!) and were there before the beach became overcrowded.

my new fav family photo!
