The BAHA!!

Elizabeth saw her hearing specialist this week.

We needed a check up since it's been 2 years since our last visit, but also we wanted to start the ball rolling for getting her a BAHA -bone anchored hearing aid.

We requested one from our insurance 2 years ago and they denied us.

Now that Elizabeth is older and doing school more regularly, we notice she is struggling more and more in her reading and language arts...much due to the fact she isn't hearing sounds as clearly or correctly as she should be.

Her hearing speciliast is going to plead our case to insurance and we'll pray they are sympathetic and approve one for Elizabeth.

The specialist was super kind and loaned us a BAHA for the next month.  This is just like the one we've requested for her ...same brand and everything...just on a headband.  Our hope is that eventually (after complete ear reconstruction) she will have a permanent BAHA...but for now, she can use one on a headband.

She does hear much better and seems to hear more clearly.  She doesn't mind wearing it at all..and even asks for it back on if we ever have to take it off (off for swimming, showering, gymnastics, etc).

Praising God for His gift of hearing to our little girl..and praying insurance will approve her to have 1 of her very own!!
