State Fair Fun!

October 12th was John's Friday off AND 2 days before Andrew's birthday.

We decided to surprise the kids with a trip to the State Fair!
Opening Day was $1 per person entry fee AND if kids submitted 3 short book reports, they received a pass for 3 free rides.

SOLD!

That's a cheap outing for a family of 6. :)

the 1st ride they chose was the giant slide!

nothing but the healthiest of food options at a fair!
it's tough to see all 5 of them -but daddy had to ride with both girls and Biruk is in front of them.
John's having so much fun. :)
the boys were big enough to do the bumper cars by themselves..the girls weren't. :(

After a few rides, we went thru the Agriculture Buildings to see all the animals (and it was free. :) )
lots of goats to see and pet

a mama and her triplets -though it's tough to see all 3 babies

what in the world is this guy doing?!
we thought it was hilarious...this dude just lounging in a goat stall like he was an attraction.

rows and rows of bunnies.

all of us but John were wanting another since our Ginger died a month ago.
maybe we can sweet talk daddy into another soon. :)

the kids are petting a mini-Rex bunny...man these things are tiny!! and they stay tiny!

this goat was in the petting zoo but fenced off...you can tell how tiny it is by the fact it's the same size as the ducks.

Andrew found 1 of the baby piggies roaming around

this mama wallaby was fenced off....she has a joey in her pouch!

since the boys did the bumper cars, the girls did the sky-ride with daddy!

while the boys went to the NFL experience tent, the girls and I did the butterfly garden!
Hundreds of butterflies flitting around...they give you a q-tip and you dip it in "nectar" and let the butterflies land on your q-tip..then you're to put them onto a flower. :)

Each kiddo had also been given $10 from my grandma....we let them choose to spend that $$ however they wished.

All 4 chose to spend $5 on games at the fair and save/tithe the remaining $5.

The girls chose to spend all $5 on 1 game...one that guaranteed them to win a goldfish. :)  So now each girl is the proud parent of a goldfish.  The girls chose to spend their remaining $4 on decorations for their little fish tanks!

We all had a  great time and the kids are already begging to go again next year!
