When we told people we were headed to Maui, everyone said "you HAVE TO take the road to Hana".
We really debated...we were only in Maui for 4 days, did we want to spend 1 entire day driving?
We decided we did ~and we were SO glad!
**note -if you go, spend the $20 for the "Road to Hana" CD -it made the drive! lots of little tidbits of info from history, to anectdotes, to tips on where to stop and get out and hike**
We had heard you want to get on the road as early as possible -so we left the condo before the sun rose.

much of the road looked like this -LUSH green growth EVERYWHERE

it was originally brought over by Chinese workers a few hundred years ago.

taro (root vegetable kinda like potato) fields
tons of waterfalls along the road

John wanted to check out the water
I think the wave was a bit bigger than he anticipated! :)
the waterfalls and pools of O'heo were quite crowded!
John had vowed to jump off at least one waterfall while we were in Maui -so this was his chance!

words really don't describe how incredibly beautiful this beach was
and we were the first to reach it this day so the beach was pristine
