MOLLY

After losing our Lucy-dog over Labor Day Weekend, we knew we wanted another dog but we just weren't sure of the timing.

In mid-October we signed up with 2 lab rescues in our area and waited for a dog to come along that we might be interested in.

In mid-November we saw the most beautiful 4 yr old, almost white, lab posted on one of the rescue sites.

We were able to go meet her and fell in love with her instantly! She is SUCH a sweetheart! laidback, gentle, sweet, patient....the ultimate family dog.

But...she came with some baggage -she came to us with a few infections that would clear in time with meds as well as some bone/joint issues due to lack of care and being severely overweight.

We decided to take the chance and adopt her.

she had been used and abused as a breeder's dog.
she was absolutely wonderful with my parents' little golden retriever puppy!

She ended up being much sicker and much more injured than we had first thought and we racked up an enormous vet bill in just 2 weeks.

We have THE SWEETEST vet and saw her many times in those 2 1/2 weeks with Molly ~trying to help her get better.

At some point we made the decision we would have to give her back to our rescue due to the financial burden....Molly was going to need extensive on-going care for all of her medical issues.

The short version of the story is that our vet asked us to let her adopt Molly from us. She fell in love with her the very first day we brought her in. The rescue agreed that Molly would be best off with a vet as her mommy!

It was gut-wrenching to give her up...we all loved her so much....but knowing she was going to someone trained to care for her was comforting.

The best part.....she is the "mascot" at our vet's new office so we get to visit her any time we want!!
